Namibia has always recognised the fated relationship between peace and gender equality, and development and gender equality. The Government of Namibia remains committed to achieving gender parity by mainstreaming gender issues to ensure that women and girls are empowered and given equal opportunities. Good policies and legal frameworks are a pre-requisite for change but are not enough to overcome barriers to gender equality. All of us need to get involved and take action. Together we need to amplify action to change the entrenched mindsets and attitudes of both men and women, as well as break down structures of patriarchy, which prevent women and societies on the whole from achieving our fullest potential. The constant exchange of best practices, also through the International Gender Champions will help all of us to move forward.

I support the IGC Panel Parity Pledge.

I support the IGC gender-based violence pledge.
