The Global Migration Centre is pleased to host the launch of Adolescent Girls' Migration in the Global South: Transitions into Adulthood by Katarzyna Grabska, Marina de Regt and Nicoletta Del Franco.

The launch will include the presentation of the book by the three authors in discussion with invited guests, as well as a screening of parts of one of the films, 2 Girls, based on the research. This book is the result of a research project hosted by the Global Migration Centre and financed by the Swiss Network for International Studies. It provides a complex, comparative analysis of the migration and mobility of adolescent girls in the Global South. What are the constraints and opportunities? How do they affect the girls’ capacity to determine their future and their transitions into adulthood?

Migrant girls’ experiences and narratives collected in Bangladesh, Ethiopia and Sudan draw the contours of their lives on the move. While the immediate impact of migration can be negative, it can also offer girls new and better opportunities for their future lives.  The book also explores how adolescence and adulthood are being transformed in the context of migration.
